Strengthening non-profit governance across Canada
Who we are
Board Leapfrog® is a social enterprise operated by Cosgrove & Co., a Halifax-based governance consulting firm.
Cosgrove & Co. has made a significant investment in the program, contributing facilitation time at no cost and donating the administrative support required to operate Board Leapfrog® and coordinate its faculty and operations.
Our team brings decades of experience as management consultants, former educators, and non-profit board executives.
We also collaborate with community leaders and trusted professionals who serve the non-profit sector, including accountants and lawyers. Good governance is our passion.
We are committed to supporting volunteer directors as they serve with distinction and grow in their journey as effective, confident board members.
Our mission at Board Leapfrog®
Board Leapfrog® operates as a social enterprise with a core mission to strengthen governance effectiveness across Canada’s non-profit sector.
We do this by delivering high-quality, practical director training that is accessible and affordable for organizations of all sizes.
Our programs are designed to equip board members with the financial, legal, and strategic knowledge required to provide effective oversight in an increasingly complex environment.
Rather than relying on theory alone, our training is grounded in real-world governance challenges faced by today’s non-profit organizations.
What we value

Quality board education should be available to all nonprofit directors, regardless of budget or location.
Lifelong Learning
Effective boards evolve. We support continuous learning to help directors stay informed and confident in a changing environment.
Board Leapfrog® experts
Our team brings together experienced board leaders, advisors, and educators who understand the real-world challenges non-profits face. With backgrounds spanning governance, finance, law, and organizational leadership, we focus on practical, plain-language training that helps directors lead with confidence. We’re united by one goal: helping non-profit boards make better decisions and create lasting impact.
